A Cook Helper supports chefs and kitchen staff in the preparation, cooking, and serving of meals. The role involves performing basic food preparation tasks, maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen, and ensuring that all ingredients and utensils are ready for use. Cook Helpers play an important part in keeping the kitchen organized, efficient, and compliant with food safety standards.
Assist cooks in preparing ingredients (washing, peeling, chopping, portioning, etc.).
Maintain kitchen cleanliness and organize workstations, utensils, and equipment.
Wash dishes, cooking tools, and surfaces following hygiene standards.
Help with basic cooking tasks such as stirring, mixing, or plating food.
Store food properly and check product quality and freshness.
Receive and unpack kitchen deliveries, checking items and quantities.
Dispose of waste and follow recycling and sanitation procedures.
Support chefs and coworkers during busy service hours.
Basic experience or understanding of food preparation.
Good hygiene practices and knowledge of kitchen safety rules.
Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods.
Teamwork, reliability, and positive attitude.
Flexibility with shifts (morning, evening, weekends).
Previous kitchen experience is an advantage but not always required.
