The Asphalt Compactor Operator is responsible for operating the roller machine used to compact and smooth asphalt surfaces on roads, highways, and construction sites. This role ensures that the asphalt layers are properly compressed to achieve the required density, durability, and smoothness according to project specifications.
Operate asphalt compactor / roller machines to compact freshly laid asphalt.
Control the speed, pressure, and rolling patterns to ensure even compaction and a uniform surface finish.
Inspect the surface for imperfections, soft spots, or uneven areas and make corrections as needed.
Coordinate with the paving and finishing crew to maintain optimal compaction timing.
Conduct daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance (fueling, cleaning, lubrication, etc.).
Monitor machine performance and report mechanical issues to the supervisor.
Follow all site safety procedures and wear appropriate protective equipment.
Proven experience operating asphalt compactor or roller equipment (preferred).
Understanding of asphalt paving and compaction techniques.
Strong attention to detail and ability to detect surface irregularities.
Good communication and teamwork skills on active construction sites.
Physical endurance and ability to work in outdoor environments.
Valid driving license; heavy machinery license is an advantage.
